- The first is to prepare the cloth (the cloth can be made of cotton or silk)
- Second is Canting, Canting serves as a tool to form a motif later.
- The third is gawangan draped fabric that is the place for later
- Fourth is the wax melted
- The fourth is to prepare a pot and a stove that serves to heat up
- Then the latter is preparing a dye solution
1. The first step is to make molani / known for making batik design. For the motif itself very many and diverse. Each person will have different tastes different. Some like to follow the trend of their rapidly developing, but there are those who like to create a motif / pattern itself. In Indonesia batik motifs are generally divided into two parts, namely the motif and coastal motif.
2. When finished making molani or motif then the next step is to paint by using a wax that has melted using a canting (caged / dicantangi) by following the pattern.
3. The next step is to cover the white colorless using malam.Canting wax is used for delicate parts, while the brush is used for large-sized parts. The purpose of this is to so that when the material into a dye solution dyeing, piece by wax layer is not exposed.
4. The next step is the process of batik coloring first part that is not covered by wax by dipping the cloth in a certain color. Then when you're done dipped the cloth will be dried by drying.
5. When finished dried then the next step is to re-painting using the canting. It is intended that to cover parts that will be retained in the first coloring. When finished it will be resumed with the dyeing process in the second stage.
6. After the dyeing process in the second stage is completed the next step is to remove wax on the fabric still attached, is done by putting the cloth in hot water that is heated on the stove.
7. Once the cloth is clean of wax and dry, it can be done again with the closing of wax batik process (using canting) to hold the first and second color. The process of opening and closing the wax can be repeated according to the number of colors and the complexity of the desired motif.
8. The next step is nglorot, the fabric was discolored boiled with hot water. The goal boil with hot water here is to encourage him to eliminate a layer of wax, so the motif that has been previously drawn clearly visible. You do not need to worry, this immersion will not make you an image motif that has been exposed to a color, because the top of the fabric is still shrouded in a thin layer. After completion, the batik is ready for use.
9. Finally, the washing and drying batik cloth by drying before it can be used and worn.
