Have you heard the new age music? I'm sure once, even if you do not understand about the new age genre. Have you heard the music played by Kitaro, Yanni and Enya? Three musicians this new age genre I believe is already well known in Indonesia. Their music is often used as musical illustrations on some television show or movie soundtracks big screen. Shopping malls, bookstores, and hotels also frequently uses new age music to give the feel of a pleasant and soothing for the visitors. However, not infrequently also for people who are not very familiar with music like this, they felt alien ears to hear. New Age music is generally played without lyrics or vocals. If you have a vocal, lyrics sung also feels quite alien-like music that is sung by Enya.
So, what exactly is new age music? New age music is rather hard to define as a rigid, because the music is so vast with a characteristic that is very diverse. New Age music is actually a musical take on various forms and directions by referring to some of musical genres including the Electronic Music, Instrumental, Ambient, Drum and Percussion, Minimalism, World Music (Native American, Celtic, Indian, Ethnic). Unlike the music of jazz that has a specific characteristic which is known as tempo and improvisation, new age music very, very flexible. Even some new-age musicians also incorporate certain shades of jazz into a new age music they play. Cadence is sung in the music varies from melancholic to the beat of rhythmic, from the heave with melodious, until the lyrics sung with the nuances of ritual or worship. Although there were sung by use lyrics primarily in the form of choir, but most of the new age music is played without the lyrics of its lead singer.
Instruments used in musiknew age so diverse ranging from piano, acoustic guitar, flute, harp, electronic instrument, to the traditional musical instruments like sitar, tabla, and tambourine. This music are played solo or by using a large orchestra. Some types of music is also using entrainment, binaural beats, and brain waves, such as beta, alpha, theta and delta. Therefore, new age music is often used by practitioners of meditation, music therapy, yoga, or as a way to relieve tension. Some kind of new age music will be felt comfortable and soothing if heard in a beautiful natural setting.
Although I was a listener of music of all kinds, however, New Age is a genre of music that I am quite enjoy doing besides Jazz. My introduction to music started when a new age in the early 1990s I heard music instrument on the radio. Strains tone feels very touching. I do not know the title of the music. I record the music and then I take it to the record store. After that I found out that the musicians who play named Kitaro and music titles are Koi. The craze finally continues today.
