Alternative Rock Music History

Alternative rock, also called alternative music or simply alternative is rock music that emerged in the 1980s and became very popular in 1990. The name "alternative" was found in the 1980s to describe punk rock bands that do not fit with the flow of punk rock at the time. Alternative music is a term for a flow or a new musical color, in this case they or the followers of this musical color trying to get out of the grip of existing mainstream music, such as jazz, rock, pop, and so forth.

Thus, if the rock music roots, then it is called alternative rock, if jazz, alternative called jazz, as well as other musical roots. Call it like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Stone Temple Pilots, Live, etc., they are one of the founding figures of alternative rock. Alternative jazz for example like Jamiroquai.

They try to make something new and different from anything that had been there, without feeling fragmented from existing music genres such. They created a composition, a song or rhythm like what comes out of their minds, without any restraint on one particular genre. The themes of the songs that often they raise most of social reflection, anti-establishment, and the problems associated with the environment around them.

Alternative term itself began much in use or known in wide circles in the 90s. This is evident from the addition of the term in the category for alternative music in such a big event Grammy Awards or the MTV Video Music Awards.

Gradually, with development time and age, the flow of alternative music is evolving and evolved into several genres, as seen today.
