1. Definition of Music Arts
Art music is derived from two words, "art" and "music". Art is creativity, taste, and human initiative embodied in various means. While music is the result of the processing of sound, melody, harmony, rhythm, vocals, and tempo. So, literally the art of music is the result of creativity, taste, and intention in persons embodied in the processed sound, melody, harmony, rhythm, vocals, and tempo.
There is no word meaning the art of music in the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI). But there is the word art sound that has the closest meaning of the art of music. The sound of the word art by KBBI is the art of sound or noise (singing, music, etc.).
2. The Origins of Words Music Art
The etymology of the word "art" comes from Sanskrit meaning "worship, ministry, giving". Some say that the origin of istila "art" taste of Dutch genie who comes from the Latin word meaning "genius".
While the etymology of the word "music" comes from the English music that comes from the Greek mousike. Mousike refers to all art led by the Muses in the form of music and poetry.
